side project
The Side Project is a saxophone quartet from Brooklyn, New York, that plays funky original arrangements of popular songs. The band, in its instrumentation is a classic Saxophone Quartet: Baritone, Tenor, Alto and Soprano, and often joined with a lead singer.
Called up by Éyal, the members of the band met for the first time underground, in the Bedford L stop, where they spent a few hours experimenting with different arrangements for songs by Beyoncé, the Spice Girls, Lauryn Hill and Michael Jackson.
Since then, they have been attracting serious attention in social media with live video recordings featuring some of the top NYC singers. They are playing regularly in venues all over NYC such as the Brooklyn-Bowl and the Knitting Factory. The Side Project were invited by the New York Philharmonic to open their concerts at the park series in Prospect Park.
The Side Project has released their first album, ‘#ThisPartySax’ in 2014 under the label ‘Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit’ – a live studio recording documenting their time spent together in the subway underground. They are currently working on two new albums. To be released in 2018.
